OCLC named Jeff Jacobs as its new Chief Information Officer. Prior to his appointment, Jacobs served as the Chief Technology Officer for the digital consumer businesses of JPMorgan Chase. Jacobs has previously held senior executive positions for technology at a number of major commercial corporations in the health care, retail, and technology sectors. Jacobs will report directly to OCLC CEO Skip Prichard. Gene Oliver, VP OCLC Global Systems and Information Technology and other technology-oriented groups will report to Jacobs, according to Bob Murphy, OCLC's Manager of Public and Media Relations.
OCLC depends on a complex technology infrastructure spanning multiple global regions to support its ambitious array of products and services. Jacobs brings a great deal of experience from the commercial sector as he steps into this leadership role for technology at OCLC.
