Boopsie and NoveList provide easy access to book recommendations for Library App Patrons

Press Release: Boopsie [May 29, 2014]

Sunnyvale, CA -- May 29, 2014. Boopsie, Inc., the leading mobile app platform for libraries, partnered with NoveList, an EBSCO Information Services offering, to provide in-app catalog access to NoveList Select.

NoveList Select applies NoveList's expert-generated book recommendations to a library's catalog. Patrons search for a title in their library's catalog, and can easily find other recommended titles, based off similar titles, authors or series. If the book is a part of a series, they can also easily access the other books in the series.

NoveList's Duncan Smith summed up Select's benefit this way, "We help readers answer one of their most important questions, ‘what should I read next?'. NoveList Select empowers library patrons to find great reading recommendations, and our integration with Boopsie makes it easy for them to do it using their mobile device."

Boopsie has taken the NoveList Select integration with library catalogs one step further with their library apps. Now patrons can access those same great recommendations, right from their smartphone or tablet in their local library's mobile app. There is no additional download to be made, patrons simply search for a book from their library app catalog, and find the recommended titles.

"Patrons love NoveList Select," says Frances Tong, Naperville Public Library's information technology manager. "They enjoy being able to quickly find book recommendations on their own time."

The Naperville Public Library launched their app in April 2012, but only added access to their NoveList Select subscription in October of 2012. Prior to integrating NoveList Select into their library app, there was an average of 1,013 unique users accessing their catalog every month; after introducing their NoveList Select subscription, catalog use increased to an average of 1,900 users a month. For an interactive demonstration of NoveList Select integration, visit the Naperville Public Library app.

"We have seen NoveList Select drive catalog usage in library apps, which in turn drives library circulation," says Boopsie CEO Tony Medrano. "The ease of the process is the main selling point. NoveList Select takes the guess work out of finding the next book in the series or finding similar authors."

On Wednesday April 2nd, Boopsie's Senior Account Manager Bryan Murray and NoveList's Vice President, Duncan Smith, hosted a joint webinar that provided libraries with additional information about the integration. The topics of discussion included how NoveList Select increases user satisfaction with catalog content, how Boopsie integrates with NoveList Select and a demonstration of the seamless user experience of NoveList Select in a library's custom-branded app from Boopsie. A recorded version is available of the webinar is available on Boopsie's Customer Webinar page.

Boopsie recently provided their customers with a more in depth look at how the NoveList Select integration works.
