Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization, named the four winners of its Conference Scholarship Program for Academic Librarians: Sarah Dahlen, California State University, Monterey Bay; Bruce Massis, Columbus State Community College; Monecia Samuel, The College of Westchester; and Michele Woods, Xavier University of Louisiana. Each of the four received a travel stipend of $1,500 to attend the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.
"I'd like to thank CCC for the outstanding opportunity to attend the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia," said Massis. "The staff, led by Tim Bowen of CCC, could not have been kinder to me and other recipients, and the conference was excellent."
CCC is currently offering the same program for four academic librarians to attend the ALA Annual Conference from June 26 to July 1, 2014 in Las Vegas. Applicants must be full-time, permanent staff academic librarians currently employed by a US-based academic institution of higher education (full list of requirements here).
To apply for the scholarship program, librarians should submit a response of up to 300 words to this question: How will attending this conference benefit your institution and you professionally? Answers should include goals for attending the conference, how the conference will benefit the institution's use and respect of intellectual property, and financial need in applying.
The application deadline is April 11, 2014. Winners will receive notification by April 25 and scholarship stipends by May 9. CCC encourages librarians who applied for an ALA Midwinter scholarship to resubmit their entries for the ALA Annual Conference.
