AUSTIN, TX(Marketwired - Mar 3, 2014) - Biblionix today announced the integration of Baker & Taylor's Axis 360 digital media library and its Apollo Automation system. Already an innovator in the ILS (Integrated Library System) market, Biblionix now offers patrons direct access to Baker & Taylor's extensive e-book and e-audio selections.
Baker & Taylor supports ReadersFirst principles, ensuring that the econtent experience is unified where it most matters to patrons: discovery, holds, and checkouts are all accomplished from within their library's Apollo catalog.
Biblionix automatically adds new purchases to each library's catalog. Patrons can see availability and enjoy direct-to-device download in just a few taps. This seamless approach keeps patrons on a familiar interface and does not require them to stray from the library's site and catalog.
"Axis 360 titles are showing in our Apollo catalog automatically, so our patrons can click to download and start reading so very seamlessly," said Joyce Trent, director of the Leon Valley Public Library in Leon Valley, Texas. "Biblionix is outstanding at integrating databases and services like Axis 360 to make them easy to use for patrons. And the resulting higher usage helps to justify their cost."
Further enhancing access, patrons can also visit the Axis 360 site for discovery and downloading. For patron privacy, an encrypted SIP2 connection is used to make access available only to bona fide patrons in good standing.
Axis 360 is available now to Apollo customers at no extra charge for the integration.
Biblionix is devoted solely to public libraries. This singular focus lets Biblionix excel at delighting just one type of customer. This is borne out by five years of top-of-the-charts ratings in Marshall Breeding's annual "Perceptions" survey (biblionix.com/news-5). The company partners with industry leaders such as Baker & Taylor, OCLC and 3M. Biblionix staff members volunteer at their local public library. See us at PLA in Indianapolis March 11-13.
