CSA launches Community of Scholars

Press Release: ProQuest [February 27, 2006]

BETHESDA, MD, USA (27 February 2006) - Community of Scholars is now available through the CSA platform. With access to this new community content and feature set, researchers can expand their search for relevant information beyond the document record to the relevant set of people and organizations working to increase knowledge in highly specific areas of interest.

The Community of Scholars database provides direct access to more than one million active researchers working in more than 200 disciplines and eight countries. Searches in the Community of Scholars database provide unparalleled exposure to the community currently studying a topic of interest. Exploring this living research community expands awareness and access to cross-disciplinary research perspectives, publications, research methodologies, expertise, and collaborative opportunity. With the Community of Scholars database, users are directly connected to the most comprehensive, richly-linked guide to scholars reflecting the community behind the content.

These records of verified author and faculty profiles are provided by Scholar UniverseTM, a business unit of ContentScan, LLC.

"Providing keyword to community access through these authoritative profiles greatly enhances researchers' effectiveness and makes the CSA databases even more indispensable," said Matt Dunie, president of CSA.

"Community of Scholars provides libraries with easy access to one of the most important but often forgotten sources of information for students and faculty - qualified people working on a topic of interest," said Samir Singh, president of ContentScan.

"It provides a unique way for researchers to find - and be found as - experts in very specific fields of expertise. It's terrific that as a market leader, CSA has integrated our profile content and community search within the award winning CSA Illumina platform. In doing so, they've continued their record of innovation and reinforced the importance of viewing relevant people, not just documents, as sources for quality information."
