BETHESDA, Maryland, USA (December 20, 2004) -- CSA has acquired the Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS), publishers of the PAIS International and PAIS Archive databases , from OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. CSA will continue to publish the products in print and make the databases available through CSA Illumina.
"We are tremendously honored to be continuing the publishing mission of PAIS," said Matt Dunie, president of CSA. "As publishers of CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts and CSA Sociological Abstracts, the PAIS titles are a perfect fit for our publishing organization. Combined with the new capabilities of the CSA Illumina search platform, we believe PAIS subscribers will benefit greatly from this arrangement. PAIS print customers will continue to be served by CSA, publishers of more than 60 abstracts journals."
CSA has an extensive research and publishing operation in the social sciences, producing CSA Sociological Abstracts, CSA Social Services Abstracts, CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, ASSIA: Applied Social Science Index & Abstracts, and CSA Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts. PAIS content provides a valuable complement to these proprietary databases as well as to the other notable social science databases on the CSA platform from other publishers.
PAIS, a division of OCLC, is a nonprofit publisher dedicated to providing access to the literature of public affairs and public policy-current issues and actions that affect world communities, countries, people, and governments. PAIS publishes indexes and abstracts that help people identify and locate documents about important political, economic, and social policy issues.
