Atingo - a new company that radically changes the conditions for the lending of e-books at the library

Press Release: Axiell [August 21, 2013]

Axiell and Publit announce today that the company will launch Atingo. Through an innovative technical solution Atingo will radically change the conditions for the lending of e-books.

In the autumn of 2012 Axiell and Publit started a collaboration with the aim of improving the lending process of e-books in libraries. The basis for the cooperation was the realization that publishers and libraries must be able to communicate loan terms directly with each other. Today Axiell and Publit announce the deepening cooperation, by starting the company Atingo.

- "For publishers, libraries are more important than ever, as a reading promotion environment as well as a marketplace. But to make that cooperation between publishers and libraries to work, it requires an independent platform", says Per Helin, CEO of the publishing service Publit, who developed the technology platform that provides the basis for Atingo.

- "Atingo is a big step forward. Libraries need more books and more choice to service their borrowers", says Joel Sommerfeldt, CEO of Axiell, the world's fifth largest company in the sector.

By fundamentally altering the dynamics between publishers and libraries Atingo opens up exciting collaborations.
