Emeryville, CA. Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) has upgraded to Sierra, a library software services platform developed and supported by Innovative Interfaces. Sierra will serve as the technology backbone for BPL operations - including the management of more than four million books and 20 million circulation transactions each year. The public search interface of BPL will draw on data from Sierra, such as books and local collection information, real-time status of available items, and patron holds. Sierra's open architecture will position BPL for future integration of Innovative products and library-created applications. BPL is upgrading from Innovative's Millennium ILS.
Says Donnell Perkins, Manager of Enterprise Applications at BPL: "We've had an ongoing relationship with Innovative Interfaces over the last ten years, and after deliberation decided to use their enterprise software again. It's very important to us to implement new solutions that bring the best technology to our users and are efficient to implement for our staff. We are pleased with the upgrade process and we are looking forward to getting the most possible out of our new system."
"Brooklyn Public is one of the nation's leading public libraries and we are very proud to be supporting their efforts to serve their patrons with the latest technology," says Gene Shimshock, SVP of Product and Marketing Management. "We look forward to working closely with the BPL staff to ensure a smooth transition and help them take full advantage of everything that Sierra has to offer."
