POMONA, CA - December 11, 2012 - Auto-Graphics, Inc., a leading provider of tools, technologies, and services that enable libraries to provide personalized access to physical and digital collections, today announced that the Central Utah Collaborative ILS Project (CUCP) has selected VERSO as the replacement integrated library system (ILS) for nine libraries throughout Utah. CUCP selected Auto-Graphics' Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud based implementation which provides full system support and maintenance and includes real-time upgrades and product enhancements. The technology upgrade was facilitated by a grant from the Utah State Library which will defray the initial migration and staff training costs and provide patrons in the region with more seamless access to local resources.
"The Utah State Library Division is excited to support this collaboration project which ultimately enhances the amount of resources - digital and physical - to all the residents of the region," says State Librarian Donna Jones Morris. "In addition, a robust, up-to-date ILS like VERSO allows the public to connect with libraries easier, faster, and more effectively from their home computers and on the go through mobile devices."
Prior to selecting VERSO, these nine libraries operated independently forcing patrons to obtain a library card at each library to view and access resources. The Utah State Library provided the libraries with guidance and several working models for developing a consortium. The libraries worked to form the CUCP consortium consisting of three regions based on geographic proximity and local needs. After the VERSO implementation each of the three regions will have their own union catalog and shared patron database. Patrons will have the ability to view items throughout the entire nine library consortium with the option to borrow and return items to any library within their region.
"The formation of the CUCP consortium is a perfect example of the benefits that state libraries can provide to local libraries through support and guidance to lower costs, improve patron services, and increase cooperation amongst libraries within their state," said Albert Flores, vice president of sales at Auto-Graphics.
