Curtin University in Australia selects Ex Libris Alma for unified resource management

Press Release: Ex Libris [November 19, 2012]

Adelaide, Australia—November 19, 2012. Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Australia's Curtin University has opted for the Ex Libris Alma next-generation resource management solution. Already adopted by over 120 institutions worldwide, Alma—a single consolidated solution—will replace a number of Ex Libris systems currently used by the library: the Aleph integrated library system, the SFX OpenURL link resolver, the Verde electronic resource management (ERM) system, and the DigiTool digital asset management system.

As part of its ongoing drive to improve services, the Curtin University library identified the need for a next-generation library management system that would integrate print, electronic, and digital workflows and deliver substantial improvements in efficiency and productivity. With the Primo discovery platform in use since 2009, library staff understood that the unified approach of Alma to resource management—and the system's seamless integration with Primo—would make a good fit for the school. In addition, the solution's cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployment will help Curtin University's library streamline its resource-management processes.

"The Curtin Library is a dynamic facility in a vibrant, international university. We look forward to continuing our long partnership with Ex Libris through the implementation of Alma, which will support the delivery of innovative, next-generation library services to our staff and students," commented Imogen Garner, University Librarian at Curtin.

Holley Dumble, Ex Libris director of sales for Australia and New Zealand, remarked: "We are delighted to see Curtin University, one of our closest partners in the Australian Ex Libris community, adopting Alma. The library has always had a visionary outlook on the technology required to fulfill its strategic goals, and the selection of Alma demonstrates this future-ready perspective."
