Boston and London, October 30, 2007 –Credo Reference (formerly Xrefer), provider of customizable online reference collections, is pleased to announce two key additions to its Advisory Board. Erin McKean, of Oxford University Press and Anthony Watkinson, of University College London join a diverse international team of library, reference, academic and technology experts to share their expertise for the future development of Credo Reference and its offerings.
The two newest Advisory Board members will each contribute their distinctive perspectives, providing input culled from years of work in their respective fields:
- Erin McKean, who likes to call herself a "Dictionary Evangelist," is Chief Consulting Editor, American Dictionaries for Oxford University Press, and the editor of VERBATIM: The Language Quarterly. She was the editor-in-chief of The New Oxford American Dictionary, 2nd edition, and is the author of Weird and Wonderful Words, More Weird and Wonderful Words, Totally Weird and Wonderful Words, and That's Amore (also about words). She has served on various boards, including the board of the Dictionary Society of North America and the Advisory Board of Wikimania. She lives in Chicago.
- Anthony Watkinson has spent over thirty-five years in senior positions in scholarly publishing and is actively involved with representative scholarly associations. He is currently a dentistry publisher while also serving on the faculty at University College London where he is a senior lecturer in the Centre for Publishing at the School of Library, Archive and Information studies. At the 2006 Charleston Conference, Anthony became the first recipient of the Vicky Speck Memorial Leadership Award, as one who has played a significant role in making a success of a conference that, for 25 years, has been bringing together publishers and librarians.
