City of El Paso, Texas Agenda Item Department Head's Summary Form

.

Background / Discussion. The City of El Paso Library, in conjunction with the City of El Paso IT Department has reviewed options for upgrading or replacing its integrated library system. Based on an analysis of cost, efficiency, and workflow, the Library would like to recomment that Sirsi Corporation dba SirsiDynix be awarded a contract to upgrade the Library's existing integrated library system SirsiDynix Horizon to SirsiDynix Symphony. Staff training and migration services to a new host server and annual maintenance fees would be included as part of the contract. The initial term of the contract shall be seven (7) years and is estimated to be $684,695.79. The initial upgrade and first year costs are estimated at $143,089.36 and year 2 at $83,731.00 with potential marginal increases from years 307 with an estimated average of $91,575 per year.

Selection Summary: The city of El Paso Library has been using SirsiDynix Horizon integrated library system since 2002. The City of El Paso Library and City of El Paso IT Department agree that the upgrade from SirsiDynix Horizon to SirsiDynix Symphony is the best value to increase efficiency, minimize staff time spent on data entry, and the abiltiy to process custom reporting.
