Emeryville, CA. Innovative announced today that the Bloomfield Township Public Library (MI) went live with the Sierra Services Platform last week. The Library is the first among roughly 435 public libraries that have selected Sierra to successfully install the new system.
The Library selected Sierra for features such as the ability to customize gadgets within the Sierra Dashboard, roles-based staff functionality, and full integration with the Library's Encore discovery application. "The most important features and deciding factors about Sierra were the open source relational database, integrated single client interface to streamline workflow, and circulation Web app for improved patron service," says Joan Wu, Systems Department Head at the Library. "We also value integration of new media such as ebooks to provide a convenient and straightforward user experience to patrons accessing ebooks."
Improving Patron Service
Innovative staff worked closely with the Bloomfield Township Public Library, in a longtime partnership with Innovative that dates back to 1999, with onsite support by Product Manager Ken Wells. Says Wu: "The new architecture that Sierra provides will allow us to respond to our patrons' needs quickly, effectively, and in a timely manner."
Innovative will continue to work closely with the Bloomfield Township Public Library and the rest of the larger development partner community, and expects general release of Sierra later in 2012.
