American Medical Association chooses Copyright Clearance Center's RightsLink for copyright permissions

Press Release: Copyright Clearance Center [November 29, 2011]

Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a not-for-profit organization and leading provider of licensing solutions, has announced that the American Medical Association (AMA), the nation's largest physician group, has implemented RightsLink, CCC's point-of-content licensing tool, for all AMA medical journals, including its flagship, JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.

RightsLink is a seamless licensing solution that enables rightsholders to offer re-use and other permissions at the point-of-content wherever the content resides, whether on a website, mobile application or third-party aggregator.

"With RightsLink, our readers can quickly find the content they wish to license, determine their specific licensing needs and then follow through to license purchase," said Betsy Jones, Senior Vice President and Publisher, AMA. "Incorporating RightsLink gives us more efficient real-time licensing and allows us to fully maximize the value of our content."

"Content licensing isn't new but it's playing a bigger role than ever as publishers diversify their digital revenue streams and find new ways to monetize content," said Diane Pierson, CCC Vice President, Marketing. "AMA's implementation of RightsLink demonstrates that publishers of all types, serving a variety of markets, can benefit from RightsLink's licensing capabilities."

Since 1847 the AMA has had one mission: to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health. Today, the core strategy used to carry out this mission is its concerted effort to help doctors help patients.

JAMA, published continuously since 1883, is an international peer-reviewed general medical journal that is the most widely circulated medical journal in the world. Nine specialty journals, known as the Archives Journals, are included in this new RightsLink offering.
