Arkansas State Library Selects Auto-Graphics' AGent Search to Deliver Statewide Federated Search Portal

Press Release: Auto-Graphics, Inc. [December 14, 2010]

POMONA, CA. – December 14, 2010 – Auto-Graphics, Inc., a technology innovator providing library automation solutions for 40 years, today announced that the Arkansas State Library has selected Auto-Graphics' AGent Search to provide a federated search portal for over 1,000 multi-type libraries that participate in the Traveler Online Project. AGent Search will provide a streamlined single point of access to state funded and locally obtained subscription content databases that may have been previously unavailable to participating libraries. In addition, member libraries will be configured as Z39.50 targets for the purpose of information retrieval and to provide a greater view into library collections for cataloging or interlibrary loan and resource sharing among members. Participating libraries include 47 academic libraries, 200 public libraries, 37 special libraries and 800 school libraries throughout Arkansas.

"Auto-Graphics offered us the federated search functionality we were looking for, a broader scope of authentication options, a more sophisticated statistics package and the ability to expand services as we improve information discovery programs across the State," said Sally Hawkes, manager of network services at the Arkansas State Library. "We are looking forward to exploring avenues of resource sharing that are now available to us with the AGent suite of integrated products."

AGent Search will provide staff, patrons and students alike with the ability to simultaneously search across multiple, free and subscription-based content sources available to them and view a single, combined results set. Library staff can simplify and guide searching by configuring databases into category-based groupings for end users, helping them greatly improve the speed and quality of their information discovery.

AGent Search will be implemented via the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) hosted delivery model, providing full system support and maintenance. The Arkansas State Library has also selected Auto-Graphics' Internet Protocol (IP) Geolocation module, which uses location-based intelligence to provide remote access to library resources from anywhere within Arkansas - without requiring a traditional library card for authentication.

"The team at the Arkansas State Library has an exciting vision for expanding information discovery services," commented Albert Flores, vice president of sales and marketing at Auto-Graphics. "We view the AGent Search

federated search portal as the first step in a technology partnership to help them achieve their goals, much like the other statewide and provincial contracts Auto-Graphics currently supports."
