December 8, 2010 - Auto-Graphics, Inc., a technology innovator providing library automation solutions for 40 years, today announced the Smart Application Group Editor (SAGE), a powerful tool allowing library staff to incisively identify and update staff-selected groups of records. Using SAGE's step-by-step query builder, staff can efficiently identify sets of item, user, and acquisitions records and make global updates to multiple fields simultaneously. This new feature, available to both Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and locally installed AGent VERSO customers in early January 2011, delivers access through a completely web-based interface, providing a higher level of security than those systems that force customers to download a local client.
SAGE presents an intuitive, guided interface for library staff to query user, item and acquisitions tables, and to manipulate query result sets and subsets in real-time. This new tool allows users to add to or delete from these sets, thereby enabling batch changes to any or all retrieved records, changing multiple fields in a single operation.
Library super users can assign which staff members have access to this powerful tool. Limitations and controls are built into each query operation to ensure the integrity of the data being changed. In addition, to guard against inaccurate staff queries,SAGE creates a backup of all fields being altered, and reports are automatically generated in the form of an Excel spreadsheet for auditing purposes.
"The SAGE Smart Application Group Editor was designed to empower library staff with the tools to efficiently manage their library," commented Albert Flores, vice president of sales and marketing at Auto-Graphics. "This new functionality is another example of the ways in which systems provided via SaaS are more powerful, more secure and cost effective."
