PTFS, Inc. acquires AVATAR EnMasse from Bell and Howell Corporation

Press Release: PTFS [August 31, 1998]

August 31, 1998, 1:00 P.M. EST, Bethesda, MD—The principals of PTFS, Inc. (Progressive Technology Federal Systems, Inc.) formally announced today that they have acquired the AVATAR batch scanning software product known as EnMasse! from Bell & Howell Corporation.

John Yokley, President of PTFS, Inc., commented "PTFS has acquired AVATAR due to the software’s proven performance in production processing environments. After surveying the current batch scanning software market within the document imaging industry, AVATAR emerged as the best fit for several of PTFS’ current projects. The scope and nature of these projects is such that PTFS needs to have full access and flexibility with regard to customizing the application. As a result, PTFS has chosen to purchase AVATAR rather than licensing the product."

PTFS will continue to make the EnMasse! product available to the existing channel of AVATAR Value Added Resellers. Long time AVATAR employee, Ed Lee, will be joining PTFS as the AVATAR product manager effective September 8, 1998.

PTFS, Inc. is a Bethesda, MD based systems integration company which is highly focused in the areas of document imaging, library automation, forms processing, software engineering, and custom information management solutions.
