ASCC Consortium in Colorado Now Live on LibLime Enterprise Koha

Press Release: LibLime [December 7, 2009]

COLUMBUS, OH --December 7, 2009-- LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries and ASCC (Automation System Colorado Consortium in Colorado), announced today that the consortium is now live on LibLime Enterprise Koha.

The ASCC Consortium's new integrated library system is installed, operated and maintained at one of LibLime's carrier-class data centers and distributed via Software as a Service on LibLime's Cloud Computing platform. The new catalog is called AspenCat and includes records from eight rural, pilot libraries in Colorado. AspenCat includes over 100,000 items that are readily available to any patron in the participating communities. AspenCat will be growing to nearly 700,000 records from 22 more libraries by September 2010. AspenCat can be viewed at

LibLime Enterprise Koha is built on over two years of completed customer-sponsored development, including several highly-anticipated academic and consortia features. This Software as a Service offering on LibLime's new Cloud Computing platform will also feature regular monthly releases as additional customer-sponsored development is completed.

"Our AspenCat libraries are pleased with the clean design and easy functionality of the Koha software," said Valerie Horton, Executive Director of the ASCC Consortium. "Of all the systems I have worked with, I think Koha has the easiest navigation and saves many steps in performing routine functions like check-out. I love that."

ASCC has been given a unique opportunity to serve as a model project to other libraries and consortia in the state of Colorado.

"We believe that AspenCat offers libraries in Colorado an inexpensive and quality catalog," said Dan Lawrence, Chair of the ASCC Consortium. "But I think the easy resource sharing--using patron placed holds in the union catalog--will change how libraries are viewed in rural Colorado. Many of our libraries have collections of around 20,000 items or less. As part of AspenCat, patrons will have easy access to 700,000 items – that’s amazing!"
