Axiell Arena – the libraries’ tool to build and drive the virtual library – is on its way to spread across the library landscape for the benefit of the end-users. At this early stage 24 libraries have signed an agreement to have Axiell Arena as their new web tool for building the virtual library. Even though it wasn’t introduced until the middle of September, where the first library ever, released the product to its customers, interest is growing for the new product, produced by Axiell Library Group. It was the Swedish library Lerum that went live. Now the first library in Denmark is also going live. On the 1st of October Vordingborg Library will give its end-users the new opportunity of using Axiell Arena – which offers lots of new inspiration and knowledge sharing between the end-users themselves and the library staff. Next week the first library in Finland is venturing out.
Jette Mehlsen from Vordingborg Library in Denmark explains, "Axiell Arena is a whole new way of looking at the library. This new library portal gives the library staff a chance to get even closer to the end-users. The portal is a means to knowledge sharing and mutual inspiration for end-users, but no less for the staff at the libraries, who can now monitor user comments and interests."
