June 24, 2009 -- Emeryville, CA. The Barcelona Provincial Council has selected the Millennium ILS for the Province of Barcelona Municipal Library Network (PBMLN). The PBMLN, which holds over seven million items, will also install patron-empowerment products such as Program Registration, Community Reviews, Online Patron Registration, and My Record Feeds (patron-specific RSS messages). PBMLN is migrating from a VTLS Classic system.
"The PBMLN has provided a high level of service for many years," says Jordi Permanyer, Manager of the Libraries of Barcelona. "In satisfaction surveys, users consistently give our services eight out of ten. The change in ILS will be a technological upgrade that should enable us to offer more services of a higher quality to our users. Our expectation is to provide citizens with a catalog with greater searching efficiency and a more intuitive overall experience. In addition, Millennium will help us manage and improve work-sharing among the libraries."
This agreement extends the use of Millennium from the Barcelona City Library to include the entire PBMLN.
