Denver Public Schools (CO) Goes Live with Encore

Press Release: Innovative Interfaces, Inc. [May 7, 2009]

May 7, 2009 -- Emeryville, CA. Denver Public Schools (CO) has gone live with the Encore discovery services platform, with integrated federated-search results from the company's Research Pro product. Denver Public Schools is the first K-12 school to go live with Encore.

"We thought Encore was just perfect for a K-12 audience because of the single point of entrance and the 'zeroing in' capabilities of the facets and the Tag Cloud," says Systems Librarian Janne Cookman. "Kids shouldn't have to know about metadata or how the catalog is indexed and organized in order to search for and retrieve information effectively. Presenting students with several easy-to-grasp options for focusing a search, or for branching off in completely new directions, seemed like a natural fit."

DPS selected Research Pro at the same time as Encore, Cookman says, "because we felt our resources would be used more if they were displayed more prominently and could be searched more efficiently. Now students can more easily access the subscription resources that we have selected with their information needs in mind."
