Barnet College switches to OLIB

OCLC is delighted to announce that Barnet College, one of the largest further education colleges in England, serving 20,000 students, has gone live with the OLIB library management system, following an extensive procurement programme.

Barnet College operates over five sites across the London Borough of Barnet and is using OLIB in its four Learning Centres to serve 12,000 active borrowers. Barnet College holds a catalogue of over 80,000 plus books, DVDs, videos and over 120 magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

In line with their mission to deliver flexible and accessible learning, which takes full advantage of technological advances, Barnet College conducted an evaluation of the library management systems available and chose OLIB as their preferred solution.

Anne Rowlands, Head of Learning Support and Resource Centres and Paul Keightley, Systems Administrator, Barnet College, involved in the procurement process and Garry Waters, Senior Learning Resource Advisor at the college, involved in the OLIB implementation programme, comment:"OLIB was chosen as it was intuitive and flexible and will ehance the students learning experience whether on site or off site."

OLIB offers a unique combination of library efficiency, ease of use and leading edge e-resource capablities to provide flexible management of information resources. Barnet College joins a growing community of over 300 further education, health and government libraries using OLIB worldwide.
