BIRMINGHAM, Ala., USA – May 2, 2008 – EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has recently strengthened the power of its EBSCO A-to-Z Web-based resource locator tool with the addition of a Knowledge Base Change Reports feature which, among other benefits, allows librarians to instantly see which titles have been added or removed from their aggregated full-text databases.
In addition to the already existing advantages of subscribing to EBSCO A-to-Z, including the effective management of online titles from individual e-journals, e-journal packages, e-book packages and aggregated full-text databases, the new Knowledge Base change reports enable library staff to more easily identify content changes to their collections at large. Also, with the added ability to view titles affected by EBSCO A-to-Z’s automatic update of titles in databases and fixed packages, customers can now more efficiently administer their EBSCO A-to-Z list when changes are necessary. Library staff can also use the Knowledge Base change reports as a resource when preparing collection awareness announcements that reveal newly accessible titles to end users.
Oliver Pesch, chief strategist of e-resources at EBSCO Information Systems, commented on the new A-to-Z Knowledge Base Reports feature. He said, "Just as EBSCONET, our premier e-service platform, offers a comprehensive slate of tools for customers to monitor changes in their e-journals and e-journal packages, the Knowledge Base change reports address the critical issue of tracking changes to full-text databases and other fixed packages."
The new Knowledge Base change reports can be downloaded in multiple file formats allowing EBSCO A-to-Z customers to efficiently update their catalogs and other content products. EBSCO A-to-Z customers can also access recorded demonstrations within their A-to-Z Administrator sites as well as register for complimentary online training at http://training.ebsco.com. EBSCO A-to-Z can include print titles as well as other local resources that a library may choose to upload. The master EBSCO A-to-Z title database represents all major database vendors and publishers and contains information on approximately 236,000 unique titles from nearly 2,000 databases, e-journal and e-book packages. The easy-to-navigate, searchable list of titles allows end users to quickly find journals or other resources, even those buried in a database.
