PROVO, Utah, April 14, 2008 – SirsiDynix, the global leader in strategic technology solutions for libraries, announced the release of SirsiDynix Docutek ERes 5.5. This market-leading product is the original stand-alone, Web-based electronic reserves system that libraries use to Web-enable their course reserves and offer students round-the-clock access to reserve material online.
ERes 5.5 is built on an updated version of the Microsoft .NET framework. Users with multi-lingual environments will now enjoy support for translation into multiple languages including those that use non-roman characters. Included with the new language support is a new interface that makes it easy to replace labels and messages within the product to accommodate local terms. The word "course", for example, which is meaningful in many environments might be more clear as "class" or "group" in some environments. The new interface makes it easy to search for and replace these terms within the product.
ERes 5.5 also addresses an issue that had created system instability in response to very large file uploads.
"SirsiDynix Docutek ERes has become the standard for libraries offering reserves via the Internet," said Berit Nelson, SirsiDynix vice president of product management. "The language support in the latest ERes release will add even more value to an already strong product."
