Axiell introduces Axiell Arena - a new public interface, which enables a significant increase in the number of the library’s electronic services, making the library a powerful player in the 24/7 society.
It introduce both library and patron to a whole new world; a world with a sense of community, where knowledge is shared and enriched in an interaction between the library and its users.
The familiar OPAC functionality is integrated with the library 2.0 concept; user participation, forums, blogs and chats are natural components.
But Axiell Arena is more than this.
The library can choose to present its catalogue in a complete different form; either as a natural and integral part of the library’s website or by tuning it to present library items in a new and exciting way. In both cases, various centralized web services provide the user with a broad range of exciting innovations, such as front pages, reviews, similar titles, portraits of authors etc.
Axiell Arena can be used by the libraries, and the libraries have the possibility to offer public authorities, firms and associations to search from their own web pages for specific literature and information at the library.
"Axiell Arena will be a state-of-the-art product", says Jerk Sintorn, managing director of Axiell bibliotek AB. "The library is presented with a unique approach to maintaining a high profile – an approach which is unknown today. Users and non-users alike are offered new services and functions and with this Axiell Arena may help create the role called for by the libraries by being more investigative and insistent and putting users first".
Axiell Arena will be released at spring 2008.
