Abstract: This article describes the process of creating an automated way to notify faculty of new books acquired by the Adelphi University Libraries. This information was initially produced through the report generation facility incorporated into the library''s INNOPAC system. Files were created that were distributed through electronic mail. Through programs created with dBase IV, a more refined system was developed. The resulting system produced positive results, as reflected in increased circulation of materials by faculty.
