(NYSE: CKP), a leading provider of technology-driven patron services for libraries, today announced the North American expansion of its Patron Services Division. This new group is charged with the development of patron-focused products and services for libraries, complementing Checkpoint's traditional security business, as libraries evolve to meet the increasingly diverse needs of their patrons in the 21st century.
The Checkpoint Patron Services Division expanded the scope of what was formerly the Library Division at Checkpoint. In addition to several new product development initiatives it will carry out, Patron Services will continue to market, implement and support all of the traditional security based products sold by Checkpoint to libraries, with a special focus on how those products can improve the patron experience. These include Checkpoint's RFID based security products, its new Universal Self-Service platform, the DiscMate digital media security system, and the CheckPASS on-site system that automates the process of how patrons schedule time for computers and use printers.

The new group has been expanding Checkpoint's ability to support the library community by introducing products and services that enable libraries to help their patrons self-direct certain activities within the library that support their unique information and entertainment needs.

The result of increasing the group's mission to include patron and community partner based marketing services -- in addition to Checkpoint's traditional expertise in security -- was a very successful year in 2006 for both Checkpoint and its library customers.
