.

Abstract: The past decade has witnessed an explosion in the number and types of electronic resources available to the librarian, the researcher, and the student. The author reviews BookWhere? Pro (Professional Edition) from SeaChange Corporation. BookWhere? is a Z39.50 client developed to provide access to library catalogs running Z39.50 servers, and conforms to Version 2 (1992) of the specification. This client can run as a separate program, providing a sophisticated yet user-friendly graphical user interface capable of searching multiple library catalogs simultaneously. In addition, it can be configured to work as a viewer from within a Web browser, such as Netscape. Not only is BookWhere? capable of searching and displaying records available on remote hosts, but the professional edition is able to save record sets in a variety of formats, including MARC communications format and a ProcCite 3.1 databases.
