Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that Aston University has selected the Millennium integrated library management system, including the Innovative Electronic Resource Management module, to update their service, administrative, and campus-integration effectiveness. Millennium will replace the library's current DS Galaxy system.
"We chose Millennium because it was the most user-friendly of the systems that we looked at for both customers and library staff. The inclusion of functionality that our users expect from sites such as Google, such as Did you mean…?, was a key factor in our decision," says Dr. Nick Smith, Director of Library and Information Services. "It will also provide us with all of the advanced technical features that one would expect from a modern system."
Aston University is a top-20 UK university with strengths in Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Languages, and Social Sciences. Implementing Millennium is the next stage in the University's drive to upgrade its ICT infrastructure, a process which started in 2003 with a campus-wide data/video/VoIP network, has progressed with the implementation of new finance and HR/payroll systems, and continues with new content management and portal system technology.
With Aston University's decision, Millennium will be in use by 30 leading libraries in the UK.
