May 10, 2007 -- Emeryville, CA— Brock University in Ontario, Canada has selected Electronic Resource Management to work as an integrated component of their Millennium integrated library platform. Now approaching its fourth release, the Innovative ERM provides the tools a library needs to master the licensing and administrative details of electronic information resources and present key information to library users.
Brock University provides a large number of e-resources for a library of its size—over 20,000 e‑journal titles plus a growing number of e-book and multimedia resources. "As our resources grow, the complexity of managing them is also increasing," says University Librarian Margaret Grove. "We have a relatively small staff and we need a solution that will work for us. We looked at more than one product, but we were impressed in particular by the workflow efficiencies that the Innovative ERM will allow us to realize. We also value the analysis tools that Electronic Resource Management provides. These are critical because we have to have some assurance that our campus is deriving benefit from the major investments we are making in digital resources."
One decisive factor in the decision was the Innovative ERM's ability to pay dividends for library users. Says Grove: "We were impressed with the ability to present useful information to our users that was not evident before when searching the catalog. Information related to the license is great for the user and public service staff, as is ILL information, copyright, terms of use, and how and where to access full-text."
The Innovative ERM is now installed in over 200 libraries worldwide in stand-alone configurations and as an integrated module in Innovative's Millennium ILS.
