The Institute and Museum of the History of Science -- IMSS, located in Florence, Italy, has chosen AquaBrowser as its new library interface and search solution. Medialab Solutions' Italian distribution partner Prime Source has successfully implemented AquaBrowser at IMSS and it is live now.
IMSS is one of the most notable international institutions dedicated to research, documentation and dissemination of the history of science in the world. Established in 1927, the museum, the specialized library, the archives, the multimedia, photographic and restoration laboratories provide an integrated whole in the service of disseminating scientific culture, capitalizing on Italy's technical and scientific heritage, while continuously updating research in the history of science and technology. IMSS has undertaken a program of development and transformation which has produced not only an entirely new concept of museum display based on the most recent studies, but also a significant increment in its library and a growing investment in the application of the new information and communication technologies to the cultural heritage.
AquaBrowser is the latest step in that evolution, bringing to the library and all the rich content a visual and intelligent search. AquaBrowser organizes the all of the library's separate digital collections in a single search. AquaBrowser is the only library search solution that can connect to an unlimited assembly of resources the library connects to -- all at once. IMSS is a grand example of 'thinking outside the box' as the collections are in a group of catalogs, all cumulatively organized together.
Tiziana Possemato, Managing Director of Prime Source was deeply involved with the set up and implementation of AquaBrowser at IMSS. She stated, "I discovered the endless potential of AquaBrowser through working on this implementation: you can really realize all that you want with it! I think the IMSS AquaBrowser installation can be used as an example to all libraries that the real 'end-user's dream' (and librarian's dream) can become a reality."
Director of the IMSS Library Mrs. Lenzi said, "In AquaBrowser easy access and clear results are brilliantly married with the complexity of search paths and the variety of available search limits. I cannot think of an easier and quicker way, so fascinating and intriguing at the same time, to give access to our bibliographic data and to enhance the value of our collections"
IMSS is the latest international library to implement AquaBrowser, which is already live in over 200 libraries worldwide. Data-rich libraries continue to choose AquaBrowser for its captivating visual search, real relevance ranking and ability to connect to any data source.
