Arrowhead Library System in Wisconsin launches shared online catalog

Press Release: Innovative Interfaces, Inc. [November 27, 2006]

Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that the seven libraries comprising the Arrowhead Library System (WI) will install the Millennium integrated library technology platform to dramatically increase discovery of its resources on the Web. The combined catalog will include over 550,000 items from the Beloit Public Library, Clinton Public Library, Eager Free Public Library, Edgerton Public Library, Hedberg Public Library, Milton Public Library, and Orfordville Public Library.

"The new Millennium system will allow any of our 155,000 citizens in the region to browse and request everything their libraries have to offer," says Ruth Ann Montgomery, Director of the System. "Patrons of our largest library will find twice the amount of items with their search, and patrons of our smallest one will retrieve 40 times as many items. They will also be able to request any item directly from the search interface."

The two largest libraries in the Arrowhead Library System, Beloit Public Library and Hedberg Public Library, are also implementing Ecommerce and Millennium Self Check. Ecommerce is a product that allows patrons to easily pay library fines through the catalog using a credit card. Self Check will provide patron self-service circulation on PC workstations instead of the third-party machines that staff maintained in the past. Both of these products free staff from circulation tasks so they can focus on other areas of patron service. The products also offer patron-friendly services on par with those found in stores and online businesses.

"Because one of our libraries was already running a Millennium system and their staff was quite happy with it, we chose it for this entirely new undertaking," says Montgomery. "Of the various library-technology providers we looked at, we found that Innovative's customers were the most satisfied."
