BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A., Aug. 3, 2006 – EBSCO is pleased to announce that federated search engine WebFeat Custom is now available as an add-on product to EBSCO's online title listing service EBSCO A-to-Z (A-to-Z). WebFeat Custom allows libraries to consolidate database searching while integrating additional functionality to track usage, personalize the interface look and feel and much more.
Once configured, WebFeat Custom works within A-to-Z, allowing it to take advantage of the extensive A-to-Z knowledge base. With A-to-Z, administration is greatly simplified; changes to the library's electronic collection are reflected in real time and may be indicated and maintained through this single interface.
With WebFeat Custom's usage statistics and analysis tool SMART (Statistical Measures Available Real Time), libraries have the ability to track key usage metrics, including the number of searches, full-text requests and most requested search terms. Using the MyWebFeat feature, libraries may configure favorite database menus, build alerts, save searches and more.
In January 2006, EBSCO added WebFeat Express to A-to-Z. WebFeat Express is a streamlined version of WebFeat Custom. Designed to appeal to the budgets and administrative demands of small to medium-size libraries, WebFeat Express allows clients to handle federated search configuration with minimal effort using WebFeat's intuitive administration module.
"The worldwide response to our partnership's first joint offering, WebFeat Express, has been extraordinary," said Todd Miller, president, WebFeat. "We are pleased and excited to work with EBSCO, the worldwide leader in information services, in making this encore offering available. EBSCO can now provide the world's most powerful and reliable federated search engine with a suite of products tailored to meet the library's budgetary or customization needs."
"We are pleased to now offer WebFeat Custom and MyWebFeat in addition to WebFeat Express, allowing us to meet the needs of virtually any library, large or small," said Oliver Pesch, EBSCO's Chief Strategist of E-Resources.
