Carlsbad, CA - February 8, 2006. Market leader EOS International announces another special library that has upgraded to EOS.Web. Denver Botanic Gardens upgraded from a legacy EOS system to Web-based EOS.Web Express and the ASP-hosted EOS e-Library Service. The Denver Botanic Gardens library has been an EOS client since 2002. Deb Golanty, Senior Librarian, noted that one reason they chose to stay with EOS is that the "technical service and support is outstanding."
The Helen Fowler Library at Denver Botanic Gardens houses more than 28,000 titles including their plant inventory, books, videos, software, magazines, nursery catalogs, slides and rare books. The main users of their collection are garden members, volunteers and K-12 teachers. They also do many inter-library loans to public and academic libraries. The library collection contains information on subjects from gardening to art to medical botany.
Denver Botanic Gardens chose EOS.Web because they needed a system with smooth integration between modules at a good value. EOS.Web Express was the perfect fit. The library uses Cataloging, Circulation, Acquisitions and Serials, all of which are integrated very well within the system. Deb Golanty really enjoys the seamless integration between acquisitions and cataloging, "in just a few minutes time I can order a record from OCLC, catalog it, approve it, and run labels. It saves an astonishing amount of time."
The Denver Botanic Garden library relies heavily on volunteers to operate the library. The user-friendly EOS system is "very easy for non-librarian volunteers to learn to use" according to Golanty. The EOS.Web flexible administrative set-up functions allow the librarian to assign user permissions to keep volunteers and staff members from
performing non-allowable functions.
The cost-effective ASP-hosted EOS e-Library Service hosts and maintains the library's collection at the state-of-the-art Global Data Center at EOS International headquarters in Carlsbad, CA. The highly skilled IT staff at EOS supports the data and performs the EOS.Web quarterly software updates for them.
