Colin Carter joins Innovative's UK Staff

Press Release: Innovative Interfaces, Inc. [November 23, 2005]

Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces announced today that Colin Carter has joined the company as a Sales Account Manager for the UK and Northern Europe.

Carter has served in the library-automation industry for over a decade, amassing a wide range of experience with both technology and the needs of libraries. "I've been able to observe the way libraries have evolved over the last ten years. In the UK, Libraries have been among the first public institutions to embrace Web technology as a means of realizing their goals. In the past few years, we've seen increasing government support for libraries and a recognition of their status as technology pioneers. We've also seen libraries providing an increasing amount of Web-based services, delivering on the government's push to get all its information online."

In higher education, says Carter, managing e-resources has become a priority in libraries, with 50% to 60% of budgets dedicated toward electronic subscriptions. "Now libraries need a tool for this new type of resource, and I'm proud to be aligned with a company that already has a tried and tested Electronic Resource Management solution. It's a really sophisticated tool that's badly needed in the UK."

Carter also brings his experience as a library professional and as graduate of the University of Loughborough in Library and Information Studies to the company. Of Innovative he says: "As soon as you make contact with Innovative, you'll see that it is a company that cares about libraries. There's a commitment to libraries that extends to the highest levels of the company. They are truly focused on the business that they're in." Previously, Carter held positions in UK public libraries, Talis Information Ltd, and The Ex Libris Group.
