The latest version of AquaBrowser Library, v.1.7 is officially available, marking some of the most advanced and sweeping changes for the user. Visually, AquaBrowser Library 1.7 moves from a Java-based Discover section (moving word-cloud) to a Flash-based version that not only enhances the look and feel of the entire panel, but also brings the word-cloud alive in a 3D-like appearance. (Note the Java word-cloud will still be available in certain cases or heavily customized implementations.)
What started in v.1.6 with creating a faster Refine startup has now spilled over into the entire application. AquaBrowser Library 1.7 starts up in nearly no time. Further changes for the user include a Refine menu that now offers translations for into virtually any language for all the keywords and dimensions offered in every AquaBrowser implementation. A major overhaul of the indexing system in the core search engine (we call it Igor) has resulted in huge strides in indexing speed and a lower use of memory.
Finally, for the librarians and administrators, the Control Panel which allows library personnel to review and adjust settings accordingly, has been revamped making it much more user-friendly, quick and efficient.
This is just a glimpse of all the latest upgrades and updates applied AquaBrowser Library. Never before has AquaBrowser offered so much to libraries. The creators of AquaBrowser are committed to continuing to make the best possible search software for libraries worldwide and revolutionizing the way people search for information.
