Cambridgeshire Libraries Choose SirsiDynix Library Management System

Press Release: SirsiDynix [October 05, 2005]

POTTERS BAR, England—October 5, 2005– SirsiDynix announced today that following a thorough market testing and procurement process, Cambridgeshire County Council's Libraries and Information Service has awarded the contract for the replacement of its online computer system to SirsiDynix.

Known as Cambook, the system is at the heart of all operations and customer services in libraries and library access points – more than 40 locations in total throughout Cambridgeshire. Equally importantly it provides customers with online access via the Internet and supports telephone access through the Cambridgeshire Direct contact center.

The new system – going live in Summer 2006 – will enable the library service to continue improving the speed and efficiency of its operations at the same time as increasing choice, convenience, and flexibility for customers.

The SirsiDynix Unicorn system has been chosen for its high value and because of the close fit between the proven capabilities of the system and the way Cambridgeshire County Council wishes to continue improving services to meet its customers' needs for access to books, information, and learning resources.

Head of development and support at Cambridgeshire Libraries, Chris Heaton, said: "The new system will open up fresh possibilities to continue developing modern, flexible ways of accessing the library service which our customers have been asking for. We were impressed by the products and strategic vision offered by SirsiDynix – in particular, the company's focus on improving the experience of library customers."
