AquaBrowser Library, the most-frequently used library search tool in its land of origin - the Netherlands, was once again a hit at the American Library Association Conference in Chicago. A group of staff from Medialab Solutions, the creator of AquaBrowser attended the ALA Conference from June 24 to June 28, and assisted at the booth of exclusive North American partner, TLC, Inc.
TLC's booth hosted a series of AquaBrowser Library presentations which lasted approximately 15 minutes long and restarted every half-hour. The TLC sales staff had set a goal of having at least 500 participants in the presentations prior to the start of ALA. The final count of attendees was nearly 700 people! Many of the booth presentations were standing-room only.
The 2005 Chicago ALA Conference boasted an incredible 27,800 attendees, more than 8,000 added to last year attendance. While some of the most important issues on the minds of the ALA participants included the US Patriot Act and its effects on libraries, and the enormous budget cuts that US libraries have faced over the past several years, there was still much talk over new OPACs, interfaces and usability geared towards patrons.
Some of the best reactions to AquaBrowser Library, which is now in over 20 public and academic libraries throughout the US, came from the special product seminar held at the Chicago Hilton on Sunday, June 27. The implementation of AquaBrowser Library shown at this seminar features WebFeatTM Federated Search. Not only does this expand the already amazing ability of AquaBrowser to make the most of a library's catalog, but it adds another facet that puts all the library's resources right in front of the user - who can access it all with performing a single search. This new version of AquaBrowser Library with built-in Federated Search by WebFeatTM is available right now!
