Anoka County Library moves to Sirsi Unicorn

Press Release: SIRSI Corporation [May 18, 2005]

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – MAY 18, 2005 – Sirsi Corporation announced today that Anoka County Library (ACL) in Minnesota, is moving to the Sirsi Unicorn Library Management System. Located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, ACL has made it a top priority to provide excellent customer service. The library chose Sirsi technology to help meet and exceed user expectations while expanding on the library's commitment to customer service.

ACL's selection of Sirsi was the unanimous choice of its evaluation committee after having reviewed proposals from several vendors. Impressed with the many attractive features of Sirsi Unicorn, including added content, ease of data entry, and several Sirsi WorkFlows® features such as serials, ACL saw many things their users had been requesting. Mary Caven, interim director of ACL, recognized new ways to empower users through the Sirsi SingleSearchTM federated search tool, added content, and improved patron account management and notification systems.

"When all components are fully implemented, I am confident that our users will find them indispensable," said Caven. "We're happy to be moving to Sirsi and excited about the go-live date. We have prepared for this day for a long time," she continued. "We're facing some big changes as we move from our current system, which was first installed in 1987, to today's Java®-based system. We're not only excited about the product, but we're looking forward to extending and developing our relationship with Sirsi."

Caven also noted that the library staff is excited about the move to Sirsi Unicorn's user-friendly staff interface and about having access to features not available on the current system. Circulation staff, in particular, is happy to have the ability to clone patron records.

Included in ACL's suite of Sirsi solutions are the Sirsi Unicorn Library Management System (including serials control and acquisitions with EDI, as well as the outreach services module), Sirsi WorkFlows Staff Client Interface, iBistro e-Library, Sirsi SmartPortTM Z39.50 Cataloging Utility, Sirsi Voice Automation notification system, and Sirsi SingleSearch.
