Press Release: Dynix [March 24, 2005]

Abstract: Dynix announced that Gatineau Public Library in Québec has purchased the Horizon Integrated Library System, leaving its Sirsi multiLIS system of more than 10 years.

PROVO, Utah - March 24, 2005 - Dynix, the world's leading provider of automation technologies, solutions, and services for libraries, today announced that Gatineau Public Library (Gatineau, Québec) has purchased the Horizon Integrated Library System, leaving its Sirsi multiLIS system of more than 10 years.

Gatineau Public Library selected Dynix after a thorough request-for-proposal process in which the Library evaluated several systems.

"Horizon is a powerful and flexible system. It's user friendliness makes it easily accessible by our patrons," said the Mayor of Gatineau, Mr. Yves Ducharme. "We are excited to be working with Dynix and look forward to expanding the services offered to our users."

Established following the 2002 merger of the municipalities of Gatineau, Aylmer, Hull, Masson-Angers, and Buckingham to form the City of Gatineau, the Gatineau Public Library maintains 10 branches, has holdings of 260,000 items, and serves a population of more than 239,000 people. Each year, Gatineau Public Library circulates in excess of 1.5 million items.

"We are very pleased to welcome Gatineau Public Library into the Dynix family," said Dynix Chief Operating Officer Bill Davison. "As the number of customers we serve in Québec continues to increase, we are excited about our quickly expanding presence in the French library market."

The City of Gatineau is the fourth largest urban centre in Québec. With the City of Ottawa, it comprises Canada's National Capital Region which, with its population of 1,100,000 people, is the fourth largest urban area in Canada, following Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.
