Press Release: Dynix [March 10, 2005]

PROVO, Utah--March 10, 2005--Dynix, the world's leading provider of automation technologies, solutions and services for libraries, today announced that the Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies will replace its Dynix ILS system of nine years with the Horizon Information Management System.

Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies (BCFTCS) sought a new automation system to enrich the functionality available to its staff and to expand the level of service offered to its users. This process included the evaluation of a number of systems.

"We were already a Dynix ILS customer, so we felt the Horizon system would be familiar and easy to use," said Deborah Findlay, Richmond House Library Services Manager at BCFTCS. "We were very impressed with the look and functionality of Horizon and we have been happy with the service we've received from Dynix."

The college maintains a collection of 65,000 items in its library, serving 7,000 students and staff. As part of it new Horizon deployment, BCFTCS will install Horizon Information Portal, which will provide users with channel-based customization and a new level of self-service options.

"We are extremely pleased to be extending our relationship with the Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies," said Dynix Vice President and General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Mark Carden. "With Horizon and Horizon Information Portal, the college will be able to continue the excellent service it provides to its users whilst exceeding students' expectations for advanced searching and customization."
