Cochise County Library District picks Sirsi

Press Release: SIRSI Corporation [September 08, 2004]

ST. LOUIS-September 13, 2004-Sirsi Corporation, celebrating 25 years of delivering technology "firsts" to the library community, announced today the Cochise County Library District (CCLD) in Arizona has selected Sirsi's suite of products and services to make it easier for end-users to find the information and access the library services they need, while increasing the productivity of library personnel in their efforts to serve those end-users.

"We looked at other systems and we found that we trusted Sirsi and believed that iBistro was the most user-friendly public access catalog interface, plus it is available in Spanish," said Donna Gaab, CCLD director. "Sirsi's software for our staff is also a bonus; modules are intuitive and offer 'point-and-click' ease of use. Both the staff and the public are providing very positive feedback on our new system."

CCLD's suite of Sirsi solutions includes the Unicorn® Library Management System with the WorkFlows® staff interface, and the iBistro e-Library Solution in English and Spanish. "Sirsi technology makes it easier for us to share our resources. There are 12 libraries and our headquarters serving a large geographical area. Last year we shared more than 20,000 items; we expect to increase lending and resource-sharing as our catalogs will be unified and iBistro will enable our end-users to place holds and other requests more easily," said Gaab. "Additionally, the staff interface does most of the work for you. It's a clean system for moving materials throughout our service area."

About Cochise County Library District

The Cochise County Library District (CCLD) provides library services to county residents both directly (through the branches and bookmobiles) and indirectly (through the member city libraries). In Bowie, Elfrida, Portal, Sunizona, and Sunsites, CCLD operates full-service branch libraries with the help of many dedicated volunteers. For the seven city libraries (Benson, Copper Queen in Bisbee, Douglas, Huachuca City, Sierra Vista, Tombstone, and Elsie S. Hogan in Willcox) CCLD works behind-the-scenes, providing support services such as reference, interlibrary loan, courier, and continuing education, to assist the libraries in serving their customers. For information about the libraries and to search the combined catalog, go to the Cochise County Library District Website at http://cochise.lib.az.us. CCLD serves a geographical region of 6,215 square miles and a population base of 117,755.
