Ex Libris (Germany) is pleased to announce the signing of a contract for the implementation of the ALEPH 500™ library automation system at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUK). Previously a member of the Baden-Wuertenberg library servicing network, TUK will join the ALEPH-based North-Rhine-Westphalia university libraries consortium (HBZ) at the end of this year-- becoming the twelfth HBZ participant to adopt ALEPH as its local library system. An in-depth evaluation and demonstration process including a number of library systems was held by the University from which ALEPH 500 emerged as the clear winner.
Ralph Werner Wildermuth, Head of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern Library, commented on their decision as follows: “We aim for an optimal compatibility between the network and local systems. We shall benefit from the uniformity of the two ALEPH 500 systems.”
“We welcome the University of Kaiserslautern to the rapidly expanding family of local ALEPH users and consortia in Germany,” said Michael Luetgen, General Manager of Ex Libris Germany. “We are pleased to be affiliated with this growing Rhineland-Palatinate institution which focuses on natural sciences and technology.”
