American Kennel Club selects EOS.Web ILS Solution

Press Release: EOS International [March 9, 2004]

(Carlsbad, CA - March 9, 2004) Market leader EOS International announces that the American Kennel Club (AKC), the nation's leading non-profit organization devoted to the study, breeding, exhibiting, and advancement of purebred dogs, has selected EOS.Web in conjunction with EOS e-Library Service(tm) to maintain and advance access to their special collection.

While EOS.Web can be installed locally on their own servers, AKC elected to use EOS.Web in conjunction with EOS e-Library Service in order to free themselves from having to handle local hardware and software IT issues. Rather than installing EOS.Web on an in-house server supported by AKC library staff, EOS.Web is hosted at the global EOS Data Center, a central data facility supported directly by the same technology and skilled systems staff that developed EOS.Web. Library staff and patrons can access the software 'on demand' via a Web browser over a secure Internet connection and experience the same functionality, speed, and appearance as if it were hosted on a local library server.

Affiliated with more than 4,500 American dog clubs, AKC operates the world's largest registry of purebred dogs and is a leader in the international canine community. AKC plans to use EOS.Web Indexer and EOS.Web KnowledgeBuilder modules to expand access to their traditional library materials to include AKC magazine and art collection content as well as historical information about the development of the sport of purebred dogs.

"I'm looking forward to being able to do one keyword search across multiple subsets of logically organized canine information categories as diverse as literature and art, sporting events, and occupational performance in order to quickly deliver the exact information our users are looking for," states Barbara Kolk, AKC Library Manager. "EOS.Web will enable me to improve access to a wide variety of special materials we have in our collection."

EOS International is a leading global library information management software and services provider with a client base of over 3,000 special libraries. A client-driven company nominated for a Computerworld Smithsonian award, EOS library automation software products (EOS.Web(tm), EOS Q-Series(tm), EOS GLASŪ, and hosted, EOS e-Library Services(tm)) serve the stringent knowledge and content management needs of corporate, legal, medical, government and special libraries of all sizes.
