DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, Feb. 2, 2004: Endeavor Information Systems announced today the libraries of the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Tauranga, New Zealand selected the Voyager integrated library management system. The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic chose the Voyager integrated library management system to replace their current Liberty system.
Voyager will serve more than 12,000 current users across the two campuses in Tauranga and a regional campus in Edgecumbe. Voyager will manage over 75,000 items at the two campus libraries that collect materials supporting courses of study such as Applied Science, Business Studies, Retail and Design, Technology, and Humanities.
Voyager matched the libraries' need for a flexible and customizable system to align with the distinct character of New Zealand libraries. With a progressive development process, Voyager takes full advantage of new workflow and technical developments in academic and research libraries, enabling collaboration and delivery of world-leading library and information resources. Delivered as a complete system and implemented in a timeline and workflow that suits the libraries' needs, Voyager is an integrated system that will match the needs of the Bay of Plenty users and library staff.
"The integrated nature of the Voyager System will allow the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Library to meet the increasing expectations of library services from both students and academics alike. It also offers us compatibility with our partner institutions, particularly the University of Waikato, for which we provide library services to their Tauranga based students," said Marion Read, Library Manager Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. "Voyager was the right choice for us to help future-proof our Libraries."
"With Voyager, Endeavor delivers full-featured functionality in an easily attainable, yet sophisticated software system," said Roland Dietz, Endeavor President and CEO. "We are proud the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Library can increase the profile of the libraries on the campuses and to take advantage of advanced library technology to provide the library services needed by today's academic researchers."
