DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, Nov. 11, 2003: Endeavor Information Systems announced today the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT), Christchurch, New Zealand selected three Endeavor systems for increased access to library information.
CPIT chose the Voyager integrated library management system to replace their current locally developed ILS. For digital library management, CPIT selected the ENCompass system for managing, searching and linking collections and the LinkFinderPlus OpenURL-enabled link resolver for bridging the gap between citations and online full-text of articles.
Christchurch is the largest vocational and technical training institution in the South Island of New Zealand and the fourth largest of 23 in New Zealand. Two libraries serve the needs of 28,000 students making up 6,200 full time equivalent enrolments across four campuses. The Library and Learning Services centres hold over 73,000 items to serve the Institute's technical, bachelor and graduate degree programs, which have equal status to New Zealand university qualifications.
“At CPIT, we are very excited with the decision to implement Voyager and ENCompass. We see the integration of library catalogues and digital resource access tools as an increasing trend globally. The tools provided by both WebVoyáge and ENCompass empower librarians to develop intelligent information portal solutions for our communities. More importantly, we can empower our users with greater searching ability across collections both physical and virtual, thus maximizing the access to content of all information sources we provide. In the future we will be well placed to pursue collaborative arrangements with other Voyager sites in New Zealand,” said Mirla Edmundson, Director of Library and Learning Services at CPIT.
"Libraries strive be the center of information at every growing institution. By selecting Endeavor's user-focused software solutions in Voyager and ENCompass, Christchurch Polytechnic will be poised to deliver very positive user experiences for their local and remote researchers. New Zealand's libraries have demonstrated leadership in both their Voyager integrated library system selections and their vision for the future with multiple implementations of the ENCompass and LinkFinderPlus digital library systems,” said Roland Dietz, Endeavor President and CEO.
