St. Louis — September 2, 2003 — Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world*, announced today that the Library Integrated Network Consortium (LINC), headquartered in St. Charles, Illinois, has selected Sirsi's suite of products and services to improve end-user experience and provide back-end functionality for library personnel. Comprised of eight public libraries in the Chicago area, LINC serves more than 180,000 library users. "The primary mission of LINC is to implement state-of-the-art technology to meet the needs of member libraries in their mission to provide their end-users with comprehensive access to information," said Carol Dawe, LINC's consortium manager. "Sirsi will help us reflect the combined holdings and availability at all member libraries, as well as provide access to the Internet, online databases, and other library online public access catalogs."
LINC's suite of Sirsi products includes the Unicorn Library Management System, iBistro e-Library solution, and DataStream enriched content, as well as a range of related services. "Sirsi products will enable LINC to reach its goal of promoting cooperation and resource sharing through advanced technology and an understanding of complex consortia issues," said Dawe. "Using the Web2 backend, iBistro has proven to be a useful tool for our end-users, and they are happy with the DataStream enriched content, which provides book jackets, summaries, tables of content, book reviews, and more."
