Press Release: SIRSI Corporation [August 25, 2003]

St. Louis — August 25, 2003 — Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world*, announced today that Chesapeake (VA) Public Library has selected the Sirsi suite of products and services for public libraries. "The value of any library system is measured by books and buildings, as well as by the quality of services offered to the public. Because we are always looking to take advantage of new technologies for serving our patrons in new, creative ways, the Chesapeake Public Library has made the move to Sirsi," said Peggy Stillman, Chesapeake Public Library's director.

Chesapeake's suite of Sirsi products includes the Unicorn® Library Management System with Sirsi WorkFlows® staff interface, iBistro e-Library solution, and DataStream enriched content. "We are focused on providing quality services to the citizens of Chesapeake, and Sirsi allows us to provide an evolving system to meet our library's and our patron's ever-changing needs," said Stillman. "The library strives to select, preserve, and make accessible a balanced collection and programs, which stimulate an interest in literature, reading, and life-long learning."

"Chesapeake Public Library serves as an educational and cultural center for all the people of Chesapeake," said Charles Farley, Sirsi's director of sales. "Sirsi is delighted to support this mission by providing the most advanced technology available to help library users locate the information and knowledge they need."
