Huntsville, Alabama-February 24, 2003-Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world, announced today that the Gold Coast City Council Library in Australia has chosen the Unicorn Library Management System. "The new system features superior picture collection management, which would be particularly useful for staff and customers at the popular Local Studies Library," said committee chairperson, Councilor Jan Grew. "Library customers will notice a significant improvement in on-line search and ordering facilities. The system could also deliver faster and smoother ordering, which would be of great value to the many students using our library services for research."
Grew said that this existing on-line service had already grown in use, with an increase from 11,315 connections in 2000/01 to 57,056 connections in 2001/02. "The introduction of the new system should see a significant and rapid increase in the number of customers accessing on-line services."
