Document Repository Now Compatible With AGent

New Providence, N.J. – January 14, 2003 – R.R. Bowker, one of the world's leading publishers of bibliographic information, today announced that its renowned database is now compatible with Auto-Graphics, Inc.'s AGent search tool.

AGent is a tool that allows librarians to simultaneously search multiple databases and other resources (as subscribed to by the library) and retrieve intuitively displayed results from those items selected. Library professionals and patrons who use AGent with their subscriptions will now be able to include the more than 4.5 million titles contained on in their cross-database searches.

“AGent creates a single entry point to library resources and automatically validates a researcher for access to these materials,” explained Michael Cairns, president of New Providence, N.J.-based R.R. Bowker. “This system enables users to launch a search across databases and other reference resources, yet view results in their native result screen and format. Researchers using AGent will retrieve results directly from, complete with our unique navigation tools, display pages and user interface.”

According to Cairns, AGent also supports a variety of delivery formats, including Z39.50.
